How Positions Work in Enforcium

A Position represents a role within the company structure. It defines where a role sits in the organizational hierarchy and provides a foundation for assigning responsibilities and employees.

Positions are part of the structure built in Org Structure. The overall hierarchy follows this model:

Company → Departments → Positions → Employees

A Position can have one or several employees assigned to it. It can also remain vacant while the company is hiring for the role.

This makes the Position a stable part of the organizational structure. When an employee leaves or changes roles, the Position can remain available for the next person.

How Positions fit into the organizational structure

Positions define the role level within the company hierarchy. Their placement shows how roles relate to each other and where they sit within a Department.

The structure is built from the top down. Start with the company leader, add Departments, and then place Positions within the appropriate part of the hierarchy.

Org Structure gives you a visual representation of these relationships. You can see the hierarchy of Positions, who occupies each one, how many employees are assigned, and which Positions are vacant.

How employees are assigned to Positions

A Position and an Employee are separate entities in Enforcium.

Create the Position first, then assign employees to it. A Position can remain in the structure without an employee, which allows the organizational model to represent planned or currently vacant roles.

To add an employee, open the relevant Position, select Add Employee, and enter the employee's work email address. Enforcium sends an invitation to that address.

Several employees can occupy the same Position when the company structure requires it.

When an employee leaves the company or moves to another role, they can be removed from the Position. The Position itself can remain available in Org Structure.

What you can find inside a Position

Employees

The Employees section shows the people currently assigned to the Position. This gives managers a direct view of who currently occupies the role.

Activity History

Activity History records changes and actions related to the Position. It provides a record of activity associated with that role.

Metrics Access

Metrics Access shows the metrics available to the Position. For each metric, you can see the metric name, Accountable Position, latest value, last update date, and access level.

How Positions connect to Processes

Positions can be connected to operational work through Processes.

When a Position is assigned to an Action Step, the relevant Process appears under Linked Processes on the Position page. Employees and managers can expand a Process to see the specific steps associated with that Position.

This connection gives the role practical context. The Position defines where responsibility sits, while the linked Process shows the operational work associated with that responsibility.
